The Mustang
Heritage Foundation received many exceptional
applications from trainers to participate in the
Wyoming Mustang Challenge! It was a very challenging
decision process, based on application content,
location, facilities, experience and references.

Challenge Overview:
The mission of the Mustang Heritage Foundation is
to increase the adoption of Mustangs to good homes.
In keeping with the mission of the Foundation, the
Wyoming Mustang Challenge will occur at the Wyoming
State Fair, which attracts thousands of horse enthusiasts
and promotes horse ownership. The goal of the event
is to promote adoption through showcasing Mustangs’
value and trainability through competition.

Only
25 competing trainers were selected for the Wyoming
Mustang Challenge, and on April 11, 2008, Heath was
notified and congratulated for being one of the chosen
trainers!
Heath will pick up his Mustang at the
Mantle Ranch Wild Horse Facility, Wheatland, Wyoming,
May 2, 2008. The Mustang will then be brought to Deb
Erickson's Twin Creek Ranch training facility where
they will have until August 13 or 14, 2008 to return
to Douglas, WY and the Wyoming State Fair.
At that time Heath will compete in three
areas:
- Conditioning
- Citizenship (ground work)
- Riding the “Horse Course”
A panel of three accomplished horse
trainers will determine winners. Competition will
be on Friday, August 15, 2008. Approximately $10,000
in cash and prizes will be awarded.
The competing Mustangs will then be
up for adoption through a live bid process on Saturday,
August 16, 2008 during the Wyoming State Fair.
